Simplicity
My iPhone 4 started to have some issues recently when I tried to open the camera application to take a photo. The screen wobbled for about 10 seconds and then the phone would shut down.
I rang my service provider, O2, who were very helpful but recommended I booked an appointment with an Apple Store Genius. I had never heard of one of those but I checked online and, sure enough, I saw that I could select an Apple Store and book an appointment for them to check it out.
Diversionary Times …
I am beginning to wonder what we used to do in days gone by.
I was observing the family last night, tea had been eaten, the dishwasher in full flow as we retired (is that the right word?) and we all sat down in the living room.
The TV was already on – already switched to Games mode.
The cats were observing … the lull before the storm (or playtime).
Chris was playing his new X Box game L.A Noire and Patricia was on her iPad checking her e mails, Facebook, News Updates, Word Games you name it.
I was sitting down reading a hard copy book purchased at some ridiculously cheap price from one of the supermarkets.
I felt a little old fashioned as my bookmark floated to the floor …

I was sitting in front of the Royal Exchange, outside Bank Station in London, on a relatively comfortable wooden bench on a bright and warm afternoon waiting to meet a business colleague.
Behind me, on an equivalent bench, a man was screeching into his mobile phone, partly with enthusiasm and partly to offset the background traffic noise.
His conversation, intended to be private I am sure, resulted in him thanking the caller and then suddenly realising, in a fit of panic, that he needed to note down a contact number.
He held his phone against his jacket and called out “Anyone have a pen?”

At the Learning and Skills Exhibition last week it was great to be able to show our Useful Guides in iBooks on Steve’s iPad. The iPad provides a fantastic way of reading the Useful Guides. However our main purpose was to promote our Useful Guide Libraries and we needed to remember that one of the best influencing tools is the ability to listen properly.
