Team work at the barbeque
We went round to friends on Wednesday evening for a barbeque. Unexpectedly Julia had had a very busy day looking after grand children while Barry (retired vicar) had been visiting bereaved families all day. As a result they hadn’t had time to get the food ready as the grand children had left 10 minutes before we arrived. So we all mucked in.
Julia delegated the tasks. Barry lit the barbeque. Anne cooked the mushrooms. I served the drinks, hulled the strawberries and then cooked the sausages, meat balls and sweet corn on the barbeque. Barry took over drinks duty and helped Julia with the final preparations in the kitchen. We then enjoyed a great meal while we caught up and shared stories. It was a fantastic evening – even a little bit of rain, which turned it into a traditional British barbeque, didn’t spoil our fun. The apple wood that we burnt on the barbeque after we had finished cooking smelt amazing.
Looking back we worked well as a team. We just needed a bit of guidance from Julia and then we were each able to get on with our tasks because we were clear what needed to be done and how to do it.
